Strengthening Local Self-Governance Through Outreach Meetings in Ferizaj/Uroševac

On 27 April 2026, representatives of the project team from Space/s for Societal Change and two project advisers conducted an outreach meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Ferizaj/Uroševac, Agim Aliu, and Municipal Assembly Member, Visar Azemi.

This visit was conducted within the initiative “Moving from ‘Kosovo Serb Integration’ to(wards) a New Social Contract for a Truly Multiethnic Kosovo,” implemented by CASA in partnership with Space/s, with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo.

The meeting focused on the importance of strengthening local self-governance and creating more meaningful citizen participation in local decision-making processes. Discussions addressed current challenges faced by municipalities, relations between local and central levels of governance, and the need to restore trust in local democratic institutions.

The outreach activities aim to connect local experiences and concerns with broader policy discussions within the New Social Contract initiative and contribute to wider interethnic dialogue and cooperation.
