Who we are?
The guiding idea behind establishing Space/s for Societal Change is to support and inspire a just, equitable and open democratic society in Kosovo and Western Balkans, where every individual and community have the right to live in peace, reconciled with their neighbors while treated with unwavering respect and dignity.
Space/s mission is to promote and facilitate a democratic societal transformation through empowering active civic engagement, the cultivation of constructive societal discourse, and promotion of regional cooperation towards the aspiration of a more peaceful and cohesive society in Kosovo and Western Balkans region.
Social integration and transformation: We use space as a tool to foster social integration and transform societal divisions, caused by factors such as social marginality, political division, cultural and ethnic differences, gender inequalities, into an equal and equitable society.
Equality and equity: We believe in equality among communities and equity among individuals. With this approach we stive for a more just and inclusive society that addresses both collective and individual dimensions of fairness.
Horizontal dialogue: Our commitment to open, inclusive, and equitable conversations that bridge the gaps in society requires a new model of dialogue characterized by kindness, humility, hope, faith, and trust.
Reflection, questioning and exploration: We value human reflection and questioning as empowering processes for self-awareness, understanding, and knowledge advancement. Our commitment to ethics and responsibility guides our exploration work across all layers of society, aiming to prevent exclusion, aggression, or dehumanization.
Transdisciplinary approaches: We value transdisciplinary approaches, emphasizing the importance of collaboration across various forms of knowledge, levels, sectors, and actors.
Diversity Acknowledgement: We reject the idea of turning space (society) into an empty, uniform container and emphasize the importance of acknowledging the diversity of objects, ideas, economies, relations, power, and influence. We are committed to inclusivity and valuing the richness of diversity in all aspects of society.
