What we do?
The guiding idea behind establishing Space/s for Societal Change is to support and inspire a just, equitable and open democratic society in Kosovo and Western Balkans, where every individual and community have the right to live in peace, reconciled with their neighbors while treated with unwavering respect and dignity.
Space/s mission is to promote and facilitate a democratic societal transformation through empowering active civic engagement, the cultivation of constructive societal discourse, and promotion of regional cooperation towards the aspiration of a more peaceful and cohesive society in Kosovo and Western Balkans region.
Objectives
Space's plan to implement its mission through following and activities:
Objective: Encourage and empower individuals and communities to actively participate in civic life, democratic processes, and community initiatives.
Rationale: Strengthening civic engagement is essential for building an informed and active citizenry, a cornerstone of democratic societies.
Objective: Promote respectful and constructive societal dialogue that transcends divides, encourages diverse perspectives, and facilitates understanding.
Rationale: Constructive discourse plays a pivotal role in reducing societal tensions, resolving conflicts, and fostering cooperation among diverse communities.
Objective: Establish and nurture collaboration and partnership across the region to address shared challenges and work towards common goals.
Rationale: Regional cooperation is vital for addressing complex issues that transcend borders and build a cohesive and peaceful society in the Western Balkans.
Objective: Develop and implement comprehensive research, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of initiatives on peace, social cohesion, and democratic transformation.
Rationale: Measuring progress in sectorial public policies is crucial for ensuring that efforts align are contributing effectively to the desired societal transformation.
Activities
Support and facilitate debates, discussions, and open lectures to advance core values of an open democratic society and facilitate inclusive dialogue in collaboration with civil society.
Support artistic and cultural initiatives that encourage creative expressions addressing societal issues and fostering understanding.
(Fostering) research initiatives that encourage in-depth exploration of societal issues, diverse perspectives, and solutions.
Organize structured dialogues and in country and cross-border exchange programs that bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, including different ethnic, cultural, and social groups.
